Eicra Windows hosting and Eicra Linux Hosting Packages operate on different operating systems. Although having the same price, they differ in the followings:
- Programming Language: Linux supports PHP, Perl and cgi script; Windows supports PHP, Perl, cgi script, ASP and ASP.NET.
- Database: Linux supports MySQL database while Windows supports Microsoft SQL, MySQL database and Microsoft Access database.
- Web Control Panel: Linux hosting plan operates on CPanel while Windows operates on Plesk Control Panel.
For all intents and purposes, they both accomplish the same task, that of serving your Web pages to the world. We prefer that our customers use our Linux based web servers and as such, this is the default setting when a customer adds a domain name to their Eicra.com hosting account. Common Default environments are Apache Cpanel, Php, Perl My-Sql under LAMP platform.
We recommend that our customers only when using a Microsoft® Web server if they specifically require Microsoft ASP® coding or Microsoft SQL® Databases or Microsoft Access® Databases. Every effort is made to keep all of our Web servers as secure as possible and our Microsoft® Web servers are security patched as soon as new updates become available. Common Default environments are Plesk / Dot panel / Helm, Php, ASP.NET, MS-SQL, ACCESS My-Sql under win64 bit based applications.
You may first review your programming language and database requirement: "Do your site need ASP.NET?" or "Do your site need other types of Database than MySQL?". If your site happened to be a static site or the programming/database require do not occur to you, you may then try out the demo version of the different control panels and compare which one of them suits you more.
If you still happened to be undecided which hosting plan to choose from, you may start with Linux Hosting. If in later stages you feel that you prefer to choose Windows Hosting, feel free to drop us an email at email@example.com. We will assist you in switching your Hosting platform (from Linux to Windows/from Windows to Linux) with a small charge.
